CATARACTS!!
Well, just another thing I have in common with the Asian race. I am a proud owner of a cataract as well. That's right, at 34 years of age I am having cataract surgery on Thursday. I found out a few weeks ago that I have a large cataract on my left eye. This was caused by an eye infection that I had about 2 years ago which made me go blind in that eye. In order to treat the infection, I had to get multiple injections in my eye. (In case you are wondering if the saying "Stick a needle in your eye" has any bearing of truth, it does!!) One of the side effects of this treatment was a possiblilty of cataracts. Since I was blind already, I figured the risk was pretty nominal. Well, of course I could not be normal and I did get this cataract formation. So, on Thursday, I am getting rid of it. They are also going to be putting a small implant in my eye to deliver steroids on a regular basis so I do not have to get injections again for 2-3 years. It is called a Reticert implant. Surgery should take about 1-2 hours and recovery fully in 2-3 days. Hopefully I will be fine by Christmas. Wish me luck in this, I sure could use it. For some of you I am looking forward to seeing you more clearly in the near future. Others, we will have to play it by ear. Have a Merry Christmas.
